Running across the UK for over 10 years now, Springboard Hospitality, Food & Tourism Takeover events continue to go from strength to strength.
These innovative and highly interactive careers days involve pupils in Hospitality, Food and Tourism skills-based activities encouraging participants to think about these sectors as a career of choice. The event today, has engaged over 170 pupils from 9 schools across the Falkirk local authority.
These takeover events provide the opportunity for pupils to take part in nine different workshops aimed at finding out about the range of job roles available across the sector in both an exciting and engaging way, delivered in partnership with local employers.
The day has engaged industry partners, such as Historic Environment Scotland, Falkirk Community Trust, Visit Scotland, Gather & Gather, Forth Valley College, Colessio Hotel, Cameron House, Macdonald Inchyra Hotel & Spa and Caledonian Produce to host these workshops.
Over the course of the day, pupils experienced how it feels to be both a guest and a hospitality professional and were very hands-on during the event, taking part in a series of skills challenges.
“Springboard Takeover Days are proving to be a fantastic way to raise the profile of an exciting and varied industry with real job prospects. These events bring together future potential recruits with industry employers. Events like these also draw pupils’ attention to the many local opportunities that exist in the sector.”
“This is always a fantastic event to help give secondary school pupils a taste of what the hospitality industry has to offer and we were delighted to host it once again at our Stirling Campus, which offers state-of-the-art facilities in relation to this sector. We are passionate about events like these and the feedback we have already received has shown this to have been a successful event and we will be looking to hold similar events in the future to allow pupils to sample these excellent experiences of the hospitality industry.”
“The Springboard Hospitality, Food and Tourism Takeover day is an excellent opportunity for young people to gain an insight to a diverse range of career opportunities in this sector that they may not have previously been aware of. It is once again great to see this annual event inspiring Falkirk school pupils and it is excellent to see the ongoing support from local and national business partners.”
“It is wonderful to see young people with a passion for tourism, hospitality and food. If we want to continue keeping Scotland at the top of everyone’s 'now' list we need to attract staff with the skills and desire to ensure visitors leave with lasting memories of their time here. Scotland is famous for many things; our stunning scenery, rich history, diverse culture and, of course, our warm welcome. The Springboard Hospitality, Food and Tourism Takeover Day allows youngsters to see how they can be a part of driving our country’s world-class reputation. We want to inspire future generations to choose tourism as a career and join this fast-paced, exciting and vibrant industry which is the heartbeat of the Scottish economy.”
