Scottish Apprenticeship Week 2021

We’re supporting Scottish Apprenticeship Week 2021, co-ordinated by Skills Development Scotland. Scottish Apprenticeships support the 'Young Person's Guarantee' which was introduced by Scottish Government in 2020 to ensure everyone aged between 16 and 24 has the opportunity of work, education or training. 

The theme for #ScotAppWeek21 is 'Business Backing Talent', with activity that aims to demonstrate how businesses benefit when they back talent through apprenticeships, as well as the value apprenticeships bring to individuals and the economy. ​

Businesses have adapted to challenging times. Employers and learning providers have innovated so apprentices can learn, achieve and progress, they have developed new and safe ways to recruit in their commitment to backing talent. Recognising the impact the pandemic has had on industry and employment, Scottish Apprenticeship Week will highlight the vital role apprenticeships play in supporting businesses and the economy now and for the future.

EMPLOYER SUPPORT

Scottish Apprenticeship Week highlights the range of support available to employers to help them take on an apprentice and opportunities for individuals to progress through Foundation, Modern and Graduate Apprenticeships.

The Apprentice Employer Grant provides up to £5000 to recruit an apprentice, there’s additional funding to take on a redundant apprentice through Adopt an Apprentice, with payments for employers recruiting apprentices made redundant being increased from £2,000 to £5,000. Pathway Apprenticeships are also available for school leavers not in a job or education to gain work-based learning and qualifications in sectors with skills needs.

In these challenging times, apprentices can play a vital role in supporting businesses and the economy now and for the future and there is more support than ever before!

CAMPAIGN RESOURCES

The campaign page is now live on apprenticeships.scot to provide guidance and tips on how to get involved and register activity, as well as more information on Apprenticeships in general.
 
Please use the toolkit and graphics to promote the campaign on your own channels using #ScotAppWeek21 and #BusinessBackingTalent and share them with your clients and contacts to drive awareness and encourage participation and promotion. More resources will be uploaded to apprenticeships.scot in the run up to the week.

GET INVOLVED

Whilst the Scottish Apprenticeship Week is co-ordinated by SDS, its continued success is down to those who support it and now, more than ever, it will play a vital role in highlighting the value work-based learning brings to Scotland’s people, business and economy so we urge you to get involved . You can do this by sharing your own case studies, good-news stories and opportunities for young people to access Apprenticeships across social media and on your websites.
